The scriptures talk
about a
river, "the streams of which may glad the city of God."
The river speaks to us of life,
eternity, refreshment, relief of
spiritual thirst and most
especially, the never ending
flow of God's love, grace and
mercy. May He take us to that river.

These are the days
not of failure and submission, but of the sort of resilient, declaring,
even arrogant trust and hope that Elijah had in his God.
These are not the
days of God
stepping back and allowing the
world and the church to roll
uncontrolled towards eternity
but rather days when He is
calling on His body to make a
stand, to offer right praise and
to declare that He is totally in control....
days when one united
church
must rise up in unity and purpose.

Father.
We hope we helped create a
world you're proud of. As Your
children we want You to be
happy with us. You gave us
the planet as a gift and we
must care for it. We must
cherish the people in our lives.
Allow us to mediate
on these
things as we head into the
night, God. Today is nearly
over, and we can do nothing to
change any of it. Give us rest,
God. Give us peace.
When the sun comes
up in the
morning, we will honor You.
We will support and love each
other. and we will continue to
show the world what it means
to be a child of God. Amen
The ultimate test of
servanthood is whether you
can be content to serve an
audience of One, when you
can be content to serve in
anonymity, wen you can throw
yourself into a bit part, when
you no longer live for the
approval of others,
When the size of
your audience
doesn't matter anymore and
when the size of the role you
play is less important than
being faithful and obedient.
This is difficult
for us because
we often love the approval
of others more than the approval
of God. We seek the favor of
those around us instead of the
favor of God. We want to be noticed.
When you no longer
crave the
spotlight, when you don't need
to be noticed or recognized,
and when you're not above
doing grunt work, you're on
your way to being the kind of
servant God really uses.
What every one of
you has
demonstrated this week is that
you would rather labor in
obscurity for God, serve an
audience of One, than spend
time this doing than anything else.
What you have said this week is,
"I am Your servant, Father.
I hold Your people in my heart.
May God richly bless
you for
your timeless efforts on His behalf
this week.
